Texas Jury Renders Verdict in Favor of Franchisor In Dispute with Franchisee
A Collin County jury has awarded a verdict in excess of $800,000 against a restaurant franchisee who defaulted on franchise agreements and promissory notes entered with Towns Law Firm client, Pie Five Pizza Company. The dispute arose after the franchisee group failed to operate eleven restaurants in Atlanta, Houston, and North Texas locations and defaulted on promissory notes for purchase of equipment for the restaurants. The jury rejected the arguments by the franchisee that Pie Five had failed to provide support to the franchisee group under the franchise agreements. Pie Five Pizza Company was represented at trial by Cody Towns and Elizabeth Gebert of Towns Law Firm. The case is Pie Five Restaurants, Inc. et al. v. Nizarali Lalani, et al., Cause No. 429-00395-2020, Collin County District Court, Collin County, Texas.
